On Thursday April 9th to honor V-Day and to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month the Valley City State University (VCSU) Diversity office presented The Vagina Monologues.
The Vagina Monologues is a scripted play based on author Eve Ensler’s “Vagina Interviews”. The comical and cunning play was casted by women volunteers around VCSU’s campus and community. These brave women were hilarious making the audience laugh about how women talk about their vaginas.
“The Vagina Monologues is a spectrum of women’s sexuality,” said Nadja Johnson, head of Diversity _______.
“She welcomed the monologues to campus because they are a transformational experiences,” she said; “It’s okay to have these discussions.”
According to Johnson, the event raised $380 and that doesn’t include the donations that were being given.
The proceeds were given in support of The North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services (NDCAWS), an organization that began in 1978 that helps support women who have been involved with domestic and sexual violence.
The monologues took place at The Vault Self-Service Coffee Shop & Center for the Arts, located in Valley City on Central Ave.
